The biggest fear I have about practicing on my own straight out of law school is the lack of practical knowledge i have. This is a very controversial area of law academia right now. For some reason the schools have mounted a fairly successful defense against teaching law students practical skills that might enable them to practice straight after the bar. While practical curriculum is being taught at more schools each year, the emphasis remains on theory. In fact, the only schools emphasizing practical experience are poorly ranked which doesnt make the least bit of sense.
The solution: either make practical courses 30-50% of the curriculum or allow students to gain practical experience during the school year in addition to the jobs and externships they take as a matter of course.

This is probably my biggest gripe with law school overall - it doesn't teach you a damn thing about practicing. And yeah, going out on your own is pretty scary, although I'm probably going to be right there with you in a few months.
